Mmmmm. More Fiber Tips

So, TONS of companies are jumping on the fiber bandwagon, Thank Goodness!!

I first blogged about effortlessly chowing down on fiber here, and after doing more internet research, I’ve found some more innovative products and ideas from HungryGirl! The bad news? The ideas on their list that I liked the most (double fiber bread, Scandinavian bran crisps) all require internet ordering or aren’t available in CA at all. I like her list of ideas for how to get more fiber, though–it’s remarkably creative! :)

I’ve found another Freezer Section treasure!!! Green Giant makes a line of frozen, Health-Oriented, microwaveable, small packs of veggies. If you get the “Healthy Weight” variety, you get TEN grams of fiber per ready-in-3-minutes-and extremely-satisfying-and-delicious pack (and only 180 calories and 5 g of fat for the ENTIRE box).

The mix contains carrots, sugar snap peas, peas, black beans, and edamame in a super-light, flavorful buttery-tasting sauce. For those who don’t like beans or edamame, I think this mix is MADE FOR YOU b/c the yummy sauce and crunchy texture of the sugar snap peas really help distract from the other, potentially less palatable veggies.

HungryGirl also points out the FiberOne cereal has only 60 calories and FOURTEEN (14!!!) grams of fiber per serving. WOW.

The drawback? It doesn’t taste as good as my Trader Joe’s Raisin Bran.

The GREAT news: FiberOne is an awesome add-in to virtually anything once you pulse it a few times in a blender or food processor–pie crusts (the crumb kind), muffins, pancakes, bread, used in lieu of bread crumbs, sprinkled on virtually anything…Very cool!

And…to continue the Pumpkin Round-Up….

HungryGirl also has a delicious list of Thanksgiving (read: Pumpkin-obsessed) :), high fiber, low cal recipes. Check them out here and here! A teaser for those of you who don’t feel like clicking: she has “Upside Down Pumpkin Cheesecake Pudding” and “Ooey Gooey Cinnalicious Caramel Pumpkin Pudding”.

I really like her trick of using words and descriptions to make healthy eating sound like the delicious, alluring, fun experience it can be! :)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! :)
